Joan Dinkelspiel graduated from the Fine Art Thesis Program at the Photographic Center Northwest Seattle (PCNW) in 2017 where her work has been exhibited and where a selected image remains in its collection. The Vashon Center for the Arts exhibited her Layers of Water project in commemoration of Earth Day (2020). The NxNW Juried Exhibition at Yellowstone Art Museum in Billings, Montana, featured a selection of several photographs from the Safe Travels in COVID Time project (2021). Her work was included in a group show at Seattle Light Room (2024), work that had been originally installed in a healthcare clinic in Seattle’s Central District. She was part of the Anacortes Arts Festival juried show (2024). Her public art is installed in the Seattle Metro bus shelter project and was part of The Fence Project in collaboration with Friends of the Waterfront Seattle. Her work is in private collections in the Puget Sound region, as well as in New York City and the San Francisco Bay Area. Her editorial work has appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle and in other venues in the Bay Area and the Puget Sound.
Joan’s fine art photography explores our relationships with landscape, the environment, social justice, and place.
